Diane Perez serves as the firm’s Employment Counsel. She has extensive experience guiding clients on developing strategic policies and procedures to manage employer risk exposure. Ms. Perez has represented employers in a wide range of industries, including the hospitality, retail, manufacturing, and transportation industries. Her practice also includes conducting comprehensive employment-related audits to identify high risk areas and potential exposure proactively. Ms. Perez routinely assists clients in preparing and reviewing employment policy and procedure manuals to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Additionally, she advises clients on wage and hour laws, hiring and termination, and whistleblowing and retaliation, among others. She regularly provides training for companies on employment law topics such as discrimination, harassment and medical leave issues.
Ms. Perez previously worked as an attorney at Ford & Harrison LLP, Meyer White LLP and Jackson Lewis LLP, national labor and employment firms where she represented employers of all sizes in a wide range of labor and employment matters.
Ms. Perez has served as a speaker before the Florida Institute of CPAs and the Cuban-American CPAs Association. She also co-authored “Pre-Notice Communications with Potential FLSA Class Members May Get Attorneys in Hot Water When They Run Afoul of Florida’s Ethics Rules” for the Checkoff in April 2010 and “Approved Legislation Revises Florida’s Unemployment Compensation Law” for CABA Briefs in May 2012. In 2012, she served as Editor-In-Chief of CABA’s quarterly magazine, CABA Briefs, and serves as Director for the Coral Gables Bar Association. Ms. Perez was named a “Rising Star” by Florida Super Lawyers in 2012 and 2013.
Ms. Perez received her law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Miami and her B.S. in Magazine Journalism with a minor in Business Administration, cum laude, from the University of Florida.
